The history of the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication reflects the history of K. Zhubanov Aktobe Regional University, one of the leading universities in the Western region of Kazakhstan. Established in 1966 and undergoing stages of reconstruction, it has become a model department with academic continuity aimed at solving new scientific and professional challenges.
In 1966, one of the first departments was opened, specializing in Russian and foreign literature. The department was initially led by Associate Professor Smirnova V. N. Subsequently, it was headed by I. Ya. Sulkovsky, Zernyukova A. A., Afanasyev E. S., Adorova N. V., Tsimmerman P. I., Urazaeva K. B.
In the same year, in 1966, a department of the Russian language was organized. The first head of the department was the former rector of Aktobe Pedagogical Institute, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Shchetinin Pavel Stepanovich. Over the years, the department was headed by Krinova, Tegai L. E., Novoselova A. N., Zhigareva E. A., Karashulakova M. Zh.
The year 1983 marked the creation of the department for the Russian language in national schools. The first head of this department was Associate Professor Shcherbakova V. A., followed by Shapovalova A. G. From 1991, after the merger with the Russian language department, the head of the department became Candidate of Philological Sciences Aimagambetova A. Sh. The department was subsequently led by Ungarbaeva G. I., Sviridova I. I., Tasybaeva G. M., Baishukurova Zh. Zh., Kuzdybaeva A. A., Zhuminova A. B., Idrisova E. T. Currently, the combined department is led by PhD Abdullina N. U.
Teaching Staff of the Department:
As of the academic year 2023-2024, the Department of Russian Philology and Intercultural Communication consists of highly qualified specialists: 1 Doctor of Sciences, 1 PhD, 16 Candidates of Sciences (5 of whom are associate professors according to the Higher Attestation Commission), academic associates, masters, and senior lecturers.
